Peter seeks to capture sweet smell of success
3:10pm Tuesday 7th February 2012

A PERFUMER new to Knutsford is hoping he can bring the sweet smell of success to Princess Street.
Peter Murray, 52, owns Pulse of Perfumery with his partner Melanie Seddon.
He told the Guardian that after working in the industry for 25 years, owning a shop was the realisation of a dream.
The couple sold their cottage in Buckinghamshire to move up north, and opened the shop on Princess Street two weeks before Christmas.
“I know Knutsford because I used to supply a hairdresser, and with Melanie being from the north west she has always loved Knutsford,” he said.
“People really support each other in the town, which is fantastic for us, and that’s why we feel it’s the right location.
“I’m very passionate about this business.
“The customers leave here knowing they have spoken to someone who knows what they are talking about, and it’s about understanding what the customer is looking for.
“When someone is looking in the window I go outside and ask them if they want to have a look in the shop, and no-one has been offended. In that time they are converted and love it.”
The shop offers a mixture of artisan brands and traditional perfumes.
Peter said he had used the town’s businesses to kit out the Princess Street shop, and he was intent on supporting them in the future.
“We are supporting Boots and Mannings, and I’ve been down to see them,” he said.
“If someone asks for a perfume we don’t have I will point them in their direction because I want people to spend their money in Knutsford.”
Peter spoke at the last Network Knutsford meeting on Thursday, January 19 at Via Via on Regent Street.
The next meeting of the group for the town’s businesses is due to take place on Thursday, February 16. To book your place call 01565 634100.
