Holmes Chapel company in deal to supply brews to top hotel

12:10pm Saturday 28th January 2012

A FAMILY-run Holmes Chapel based company has been chosen to supply the 500,000 cups of tea enjoyed at The Chester Grosvenor every year.

The five star hotel now buys the 10 different teas it serves from specialist tea company Tea from the Manor, based in the village.

The partnership came about after a chance meeting at the Chester Food and Drink Festival between Tea from the Manor boss James Green and Chester Grosvenor general manager Ross Grieve.

Mr Grieve enjoyed a cup of freshly brewed tea as part of a tea tasting and was so impressed by the quality and taste that he switched supplier.

He said: “It’s great to be able to support a Cheshire company.”

Tea from the Manor import their tea from around the world and their specialist tea menu includes Chai Spice and Gunpowder.

Tea from the Manor is run by brothers James and Philip Green, originally from Gorton, Manchester, who spent a total of 18 years serving in the armed forces between them.

Philip served with the Royal Green Jackets while his brother James served with the Royal Horse Artillery in northern Ireland, Hong Kong and Cyprus.

James Green said: “You drink a lot of tea when you’re in the armed forces, so we are both passionate about tea."
