Council advice on direct debit
12:10pm Thursday 2nd September 2010
CHESHIRE East Council is highlighting the benefits on offer when residents pay their council tax by Direct Debit.
Households that do not currently pay with the Direct Debit system, along with new residents to the area, are being targeted with leaflets based on the Creature Comforts TV series.
Each household that uses the payment system saves the council £10 in administration costs, in addition to allowing a bill to be spread over 10 months, with the monthly amount deducted from the resident’s bank account.
In addition to avoiding the hassle of reminders and extra costs of payment journeys, cheques and stamps, the Direct Debit offers a flexible choice of six dates to pay.
More than 110,000 Cheshire East residents pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit.
To complement the leaflets, posters will be displayed across Cheshire East, with further information available on the council website: cheshireeast .gov.uk.
